    Checked against the official source:

    In the transport business, most tax risk is concentrated in two places: fuel consumption and documentary proof that the transport services actually took place.

    Tax risk areas

    • the fee for trucks and trailers with a carrying capacity over 10 tonnes (Article 455 of the Tax Code);
    • fuel, lubricants and repair costs are deductible only when supported by documents (Article 305);
    • vehicles are fixed assets, depreciated for tax purposes on a straight-line basis at the maximum rates (Article 306).

    Key areas

    • Accounting for fuel and lubricants and whether consumption norms are justified
    • Waybills: completeness and consistency with the accounting data
    • Revenue recognition for haulage, including trips not completed at the reporting date
    • Accounting for vehicles, repairs and spare parts
    • Settlements with drivers, including cash advances on trips

    Fuel as the main risk

    Writing off fuel against norms not backed by calculation, or in amounts that do not match the waybills, is the most frequent finding. It affects both the accounting records and the deductibility of expenses for tax purposes at the same time.

    Proving the transport service

    To recognise revenue and expenses you need documents showing that the transport actually took place: route, dates, vehicle, driver. A general certificate of completion without this information creates risk for both parties to the contract.

    Frequently asked questions

    Are actual routes checked?

    The auditor compares waybill data with the accounts and, where available, with data from vehicle tracking systems. Discrepancies between them are a direct indicator of a problem.

    What fee do freight carriers pay?

    The fee for the right of movement of trucks and trailers with a carrying capacity over 10 tonnes (Article 455 of the Tax Code).
